If you want to travel the world, make Fribourg, one of the most beautiful towns of Switzerland with a quaint ambience, a top priority holiday destination. It is located 34 kms to the southwest of Bern. Enjoy the serene environment that the River Sarine creates around itself. This old fashioned township with well-constructed streets and lamp shades made of wrought-iron and artistic signboard on the inns carries a distinctive beauty that is characteristic of a medieval place. There are the old time wooden bridges and houses built in medieval style on the slopes.

Do not be deceived by the medieval appearance of this beautiful town, because you will be pleasantly surprised to know that the inhabitants of this place are pretty modern in their lifestyles. There are a lot of tourist attractions of Fribourg. A stroll on the Ave de la Gare can be quite pleasant and you can visit the Romanesque Church on your way. If you walk further down you will come across Grands-Places with its plush greenery. One of the most popular fountains of Jean Tinguley is a major attraction of Grands-Places. If you want to do some shopping then you can visit Le Migros which is located on St. Pierrie 2 and Le Coop on St-Pierre 6. Next, you can visit the Bourg which is of great historical significance. It has a famous cathedral, a number of churches, the town hall and a variety of large palatial buildings.

The High Gothic Cathédrale St-Nicolas in the vicinity of Place Notre-Dame is a very famous religious monument of Fribourg. Fribourg has some really good hotels in which you can book your vacation rental. Fribourg lies between Bern and Vevey. There is no airline connection to this place. You can visit Fribourg by railways or roadways. You can take a train from Bern to Fribourg.
