Tawang has lots to offer to its visitors. Apart from a tranquilizing and a picture perfect view, there are rivers, lakes, passes, gompas, and a mixed vegetation that would allure you. Talking about passes you get to go via the famous Sela pass just before reaching Tawang. Another one, the Geishala pass is just a few kilometers beyond Tawang. Beautiful lakes adorn Tawang with their silent presence but with a glow. Lakes are called T So and one of them is P T So. You can plan a fun filled family vacation by visiting these beatuful locations which are not frequented by normal tourists.

While in Tawang make it a point to visit Dirang. If you are looking for some adventure travel these small trips are just for you. There you can go crazy rafting and fishing. Dirang also has orchards of kiwi fruit and surely you would love to share a bite.

The people of Tawang are basically Monpas, a tribe, which follows purely Buddhist customs and traditions. You will find monasteries located in and around. Pay a visit to experience the beauty and compassion of the Buddhist religion. They are locally called Gompas and Asia's second largest monastery is located here.

Food is a mix of Tibetan and Chinese taste- surely you would relish! Lodging is not at all expensive if you would like a comparison. So if you are looking for a family vacation, that would give immense pleasure to your mind and soul, Tawang is just the right place.

You can reach Tawang by air. The nearest airport is at Tezpur, Assam. You will get daily flight connecting Guwahati and Tezpur. The nearest rail station to Tawang is Rangapara, Assam. The nearest bus station is Bomdila, which is well connected to other towns in Assam.

You will find several cheap and good hotels and tourists’ lodges around Tawang. When in Tawang, you must try and savor some authentic Tibetan food.
