Mussoorie is located in the Garhwal hills and at 2003 meters above the sea level. From Hrishikesh you should go to Dehradun, which is the nearest railway station. From Dehradun it is just 38 Kms. away. In 1927, a British military officer, Captain Young, explored Mussoorie, a charming hill station of North India with lush greenery and varied flora and fauna. The name Mussoorie, has come from the name of a shrub called ‘mansoor’ which is locally available. Glorious view of the Himalayan peaks is a great attraction of Mussoorie. Gun Hill is the second highest peak of Mussoorie where people go for a ropeway ride. You must visit to Camel’s Back Hill to take a ride on electric trolley. Another place of interest is Lal Tibba, the highest point of Mussoorie where people come to see the panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges. Kedar Nath, Badri Nath, Neel Kanth, and Nanda Devi peaks can be seen from here.
