India Gate, Purana Quilla and National Museum – Places That You Cannot Afford To Miss!

The Rajpath (Royal Path) is the pathway to the Rashtrapati Bhavan (the official residence of the President of India).

The India Gate is the eastern entrance to the Rajpath. It is a 42-m high gateway built of stone and has a magnificent arched structure made of stone. The great Rajput Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan operated from this place till Abadali won over him in the Battle of Panipat. Legend has it, that the Pandavas, the heroic characters from the great Indian epic Mahabharata had their capital city, Indraprastha, in the very spot where the ruins of the fort stand today. The National Museum s located near the Prime Minister’s official residence at Janpath. You can find some rare pieces of art and architecture from the 2nd and 3rd century BC. A visit to the museum is no less than an adventure travel when it comes to rediscovering the historical wonders of ancient India. It holds exhibitions regularly on different themes and a film is also shown everyday in the auditorium of the museum. You can visit it on all days other than Monday.
