From Mathura and Vrindavan you can visit a couple of breathtaking sights in the vicinity of Delhi called Surajkhand (8 kms. south of Delhi) and Badkhal Lake (32 kms. from Delhi). Surajkhand is a small village where you can get to appreciate the simplicity of rural India. It is known for Surajkhand Arts and Crafts Mela. The main attraction of Surajkund is The Surajkund Lake that was built by Raja Suraj Pal. You will be captivated by the scenic excellence surrounding it in the form of its hills and ravines.
You can enjoy your vacation in the very modern tourist resort of Surajkund. Enjoy swimming, sauna, or golf in its popular nine-course golf course. You can also go rock climbing. You can visit the ruins of the Sun Temple and be enthralled by the breathtaking elegance of the Peacock Lake. Visit the Terracotta Park in the hills if you want to take back some terracotta tokens for your crowd back home. The beautiful landscapes, bridges, shrubbery, pathways, and flowerbeds are a photographer’s delight. The famous Suraj Kund Mela is held every February. Surajkund and Badkhal Lake are attracting international crowds these days and hence there are a lot of modernized lodging facilities out there. There is no direct airline to Surajkund or Badkhal Lake. You have to air travel to Delhi from national or international places. You can choose a flight to Palam Airport which is 25 minutes drive from Surajkund. The Indira Gandhi International Airport is 10 minutes further drive from Surajkund. These days many of the tour organizers are offering cheap airline tickets. You can take trains to Delhi from anywhere in India and drive down to Surajkhand and Badkhal Lake. Special Mela transportation from Delhi is also organized during the Mela to the exhibition grounds.
