Shillong, also referred to as the ‘Scotland of the East’ is the capital city of Meghalaya. Meghalaya is one of the seven states situated in the eastern parts of India known as seven sisters. If translated literally, Meghalaya means ‘Abode of the Clouds’. Situated at a height of 1520 metres, this picturesque land is about 3-hrs drive from Guwahati and is blessed with a pleasant climate throughout the year. The city is startlingly clean and reflects Victorian influence.
