The 10 cities with more expensive hotels
Yesterday I was looking data for the second inning on the limits of tourism, and as part of that process I found some more data on how prices have escalated hotels in some cities. Below, I copy the list of 10 cities with the highest average price per room, measured in euros, and next.
The percentage increase in the last 12 months:
1: Moscow, 338 euros, 11%
2: New York, 262 euros, 2%
3: Paris, 233 euros, 8%
4: Dubai, 224 euros, 11%
5: Milan, 224 euros, 8%
6: Stockholm, 219 euros, 12%
7: Mumbai, 219 euros, 37%
8: Bangalore, 217 euros -5%
9: Hong Kong, 211 euros, 1%
10: London, 210 euros, 4%
There are several very interesting data. The most striking is the impressive increase in average prices of hotels in Mumbai, by far the highest in the list. To make matters worse, it is estimated that in India there is a shortfall of about 100 thousand hotel rooms, this year an estimated 15 thousand will be built, so it can be expected that the increase will continue.
At the top of the list, is Moscow, for the third consecutive year. For several years Russia is a conversion neoliberal model, with an impressive consumption of luxury goods alongside a remarkable social inequality. That this whole process has been completed in a few years no less frightening.
The weaker dollar, meanwhile, has impacted squarely in the prices of New York, which has barely risen by 2% measured in euros. It is quite difficult for the European currency appreciation continues, returning to catch up the dollar, this year we will see a more substantial increase in one of the world's cities with the largest number of tourists
